Mrs. Teri Ewing
Hello! Welcome to my teacher site. My name is Teri Ewing and I am the school's teacher of gifted and talented students. I am proud to have been a part of this school for a LONG time. I am a hometown girl who graduated from Fredericksburg High School and went on to attend Angelo State University in San Angelo. (Go Rams!) I received my Bachelor of Science there in Elementary Education with certifications in Kindergarten, Special Education, and Early Childhood Education. I also specialized in English. I began teaching in Fredericksburg where I taught Special Education for seven years. During that time I traveled back and forth to San Antonio in the evenings and summers to earn a Master's degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas campus (UTSA). My degree qualified me to teach special education, which also included gifted education. I transferred to the fifth grade. I taught in fifth grade for 27 years and also taught in the school science lab for a year. I have taught all contents and loved them all. However, I developed a real love for science and math. That is where I spent most of my time. I retired after 35 years of teaching and the school hired me back part time to teach gifted and talented students. I work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays. I call Monday and Friday my "retirement days."
I am married to David Ewing, another retired teacher. I have one son, Derek Becker, who lives in Austin. I also have a beautiful and lovable grandpup named Lacie. David and I live about ten miles outside of Fredericksburg. We enjoy our property, traveling, and listening to good music. Both of us enjoy doing work in our community and being a part of Fredericksburg.
My goal is to create an active and engaging learning environment for my students. I want students to become livelong learners, to love exploring new subjects, and to be creative and divergent in their thinking and problem solving. Please check this site for more information on our program. I am excited to be a part of FES and FPS and look forward to another year of Gifted and Talented. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or the school phone number, 830-997-9595. My extension is 1616.
