High School Families,
We have been made aware of information circulating about a planned walkout that may occur tomorrow, Friday, February 13, 2026. I want to be very clear about our expectations and our responsibility to maintain a safe, orderly learning environment for every student and staff member.
As a public school, State law prohibits us from supporting or oppressing any forms of political activism that disrupts the learning during the school day. Any student who leaves class or campus without authorization will face disciplinary action under our Student Code of Conduct.
Participation in a walkout during instructional time will not be treated as protected or excused activity by the school district. There will be consequences for those who choose to leave class, refuse to follow staff direction, or disrupt the learning environment. Discipline will be assigned based on the specific conduct involved and may include, as permitted by policy, loss of privileges and other appropriate disciplinary measures.
Staff members are expected to supervise students, follow district procedures, and take affirmative steps to maintain safety and order. Any staff member who encourages, facilitates, or attempts to encourage or facilitate students leaving class or leaving campus will face serious consequences, including disciplinary action up to and including termination, consistent with district policy and state guidance.
Our focus tomorrow, as every day, is on student safety and learning. If you have concerns or want to share feedback, we encourage families and staff to use established channels to communicate with campus and district leadership.
Thank you to everyone who contacted us directly so we could be prepared. If you have a safety concern, please do not post it on social media. Contact the campus or district directly so we can respond immediately. See Something, say something. Report it, don’t spread it.
Sincerely,
Chris Weirich
Principal of Fredericksburg High School
CENTEGIX Wearable Safety Badges
Quick help. Faster response. Campus-wide protection.
Fredericksburg ISD has deployed CENTEGIX wearable safety badges—a staff ID-style device that allows any employee to discreetly call for help with one button. The alert instantly reaches on-campus responders (SRO, assistant principal, nurse) and, if needed, can trigger a full campus lockdown and notify local law enforcement/911.
This is about doing what we say we do—put students first—by giving our people a fast, reliable way to get help when seconds matter.

HOLD is used in situations that require students to remain in their classrooms. For example, an altercation in the hallway may demand keeping students out of the halls until it is resolved.
SECURE is called when there is a threat or hazard outside of the school building. Whether it’s due to violence or criminal activity in the immediate neighborhood, or a dangerous animal in the playground, SECURE uses the security of the physical facility to act as protection.
LOCKDOWN is called when there is a threat or hazard inside the school building. From parental custody disputes to intruders to a weapon on campus, LOCKDOWN uses classroom security to protect students and staff from threat.
