Special Education

The Hill Country Special Education Cooperative serves Fredericksburg ISD, Comfort ISD, Harper ISD, and Doss CCSD.

We firmly believe in the value of identifying, locating, and evaluating children with known or suspected disabilities, from birth through age 21.

Child Find: A collective responsibility encompassing a broad scope, reaching out to children who reside in various settings, including those at home, in group homes, or attending private or home schools within our district boundaries. It's a collaborative effort to ensure that every child's needs are met.

A No-Cost Assessment for Your Child: If a child is recommended for assessment through Child Find, rest assured that there will be no cost to you as parents or guardians. Our focus is on ensuring that every child receives the support and services they require to thrive academically and personally.

Your Involvement Matters: We value your input and partnership in this process. A referral to Child Find can come from a parent or any concerned individual who recognizes the need for assistance. Your involvement and agreement are pivotal, and we will always seek your input before taking any further action.

Protecting Privacy and Confidentiality: We understand the importance of privacy when it comes to your child's education. Be assured that all parent and student information is treated with the utmost confidentiality, safeguarding the privacy of both children and parents.

As we continue the Fredericksburg ISD mission to guide students to be the best versions of themselves and achieve unlimited potential, programs like Child Find are vital. We stand by our core values of Respect, Integrity, Students First, and Excellence, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
