Board Committees
The Fredericksburg ISD School Board serves as the voice of the community, upholding accountability, ensuring governance oversight, and building connections between the district and its families. Through thoughtful checks and balances, the Board works to guide FISD toward achieving its mission of inspiring excellence and maximizing each student’s potential.
The Superintendent and Executive Cabinet carry the responsibility for FISD’s day-to-day operations, ensuring the district’s resources, curriculum, and programs effectively support student achievement and staff engagement. Their duties include overseeing educational programs, supporting staff and student growth, making data-driven decisions, and managing financial resources in line with the district’s commitment to transparency and ethical standards. The Board of Trustees provides guidance by setting policies that direct the Superintendent in these critical areas, aligning with FISD’s strategic goals.
Board Committees play an essential role in supporting Trustees in their oversight responsibilities. Each committee focuses on key areas—such as finance, curriculum, operations, and legislative priorities—that are vital to FISD’s strategic plan. The Board President, Mark Cornett, and Superintendent, Joe Rodriguez, Ed.D., regularly meet with each committee, offering updates and insights that allow Board members to make informed decisions for the district’s success.
